Where does roof age data come from?

Roof age comes from county permit records when a roof permit is available. When no roof permit is on file, the result falls back to the year the home was built.

Why does my result show year built instead of a roof permit date?

Some county records do not include an older roof permit for every property. A year-built result is a floor, not proof of the current roof age.

Does this replace a roof inspection?

No. The lookup is an informational starting point. A licensed contractor or inspector should confirm roof condition, materials, and code issues on site.
